Better World Books are a fast growing used bookseller with a social mission to promote literacy across the world. We sell unwanted books online and return a proportion of our profits to charitable projects across the world.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to be part of this fast growing socially conscience enterprise. Acquiring unwanted books from our partner organisations, selling them on line and returning a proportion of the profit to global education and literacy projects is what we do best. Due to our ongoing success, we are now looking for a Head of Book Acquisition to drive our vital stock generation programme. Our used books are mainly sourced from libraries, educational and other large organisations. We are looking to extend this reach to develop new strategic partnerships and secure additional avenues of unwanted books.
Reporting to the M.D your remit will be to:
• Identify and source new and exciting avenues of used stock
• Manage existing and develop new strategic business partnerships for stock acquisition
• Sell and promote or ex stock solutions
• Negotiate key contracts
• Manage and develop the account management team
• Develop effective business presentations
This is a highly consultative strategic sales based role. Ideal candidates will have working knowledge of the book industry and will have a proven track record of business development within the private and public sectors. Exposure to the online retail and the charity sector would be a distinct advantage.
Ideally of graduate calibre, you will be an expert at cultivating long-term strategic partnerships, will be proven in selling complex solutions, be a strategic problem solver and have a desire to work in an entrepreneurial social enterprise, with green credentials. You will be a natural leader and will have an interest in education and literacy.
We offer an excellent base salary, up to 40% bonus, car allowance, home office set up, stock options and international travel.
